No one makes it very far in this world without luck. We don’t live in a meritocracy. You can work as hard as you like (and hard work is important) but you need something else.

I’ve written about some tools that will enhance your ability to find success, but I want to introduce a new one today: getting lucky.

When I discuss getting lucky, I am not talking about the law of attraction or some way to become a magnet for good fortune. I am going to talk about something directly in your control.

Building your serendipity vehicle

The polymath and entrepreneur, Valentin Perez put forth the idea of the serendipity vehicle. It reflects how well-connected you are with the world around you. This is luck: knowing people who know who you are and what you want to do.
